Smith leads Predators past Panthers @NHLdotcom

Craig Smith had the Nashville Predators' lone goal in regulation and ended the game by scoring in the second round of the shootout to give the Predators a victory in the first of two split-squad games against the Florida Panthers at Bridgestone Arena.

Nashville won the second game 4-1.

Smith put the Predators ahead when he beat Al Montoya 4:11 into the game. Brandon Pirri's power-play goal with 7:08 left in regulation got the Panthers even.

Derek Roy and Smith scored in the shootout; Nashville goaltender Carter Hutton stopped both Florida shooters, Vincent Trocheck and Brad Boyes.
