Every good line needs a great nickname, right?
The Predators trio of Colton Sissons, Yakov Trenin and Mathieu Olivier have made an effective unit for Head Coach John Hynes & Co. for the past nine games, and with their tenacity, physicality and ability to chip in on offense too, they've developed a bit of a fanbase of their own.

Predators Rinkside Reporter Kara Hammer is responsible for the moniker Preds Broadcasters Willy Daunic and Chris Mason now use nightly to refer to the three - the Herd Line.
For those purposes, think of Sissons as "Colt," Trenin as "Yak" and Olivier as the "Biloxi Bull," the latter being named for his birthplace and his bull-like qualities on the ice.
It's catchy, it's appropriate and no matter the situation, the Herd Line just seems to get things done.
"They set the tone," Hynes said of the line. "They win a lot of their shifts, and I think when you look at what they do on the forecheck with their offensive zone play, they kind of inspire the group a bit. When you see the work ethic that they're putting in, and not only the work ethic, but now you see the success that they're having with the type of chances they're getting, [it's impressive]."
By now, Sissons is well established as a full-time NHLer in his fifth full season with the Preds, and the other two are on their way to doing the same. Both Trenin (25 games) and Olivier (24 games) have reached career highs in the category this season, and Olivier's first three NHL goals have all come over the past two months as well, including two in back-to-back wins over Detroit last week.
While the production on the scoresheet is certainly welcome, the three know their role when they climb over the boards, and they enjoy contributing together in any way they can.
"They're two really good players, and they play hard, they've got really good talent, but also they have outstanding work ethic," Olivier said of skating with Sissons and Trenin. "The way Yak [drives] the net and goes in there, he does that game in game out, and I think Colton really brings that maturity and that calmness to our line. Sometimes, we're trying to build energy, and we can get excited and sometimes you get over the line. I'll be the first to say sometimes it brings some penalties, too, but I think that's part of our game and if we want to play on that edge, then that's something that happens, and Colton really brings that maturity to our game. We gel really well together."

DET@NSH: Olivier buries rebound to double lead

"They're two physical players, and I mean especially Matty, he plays on the edge and he's certainly a tough customer," Sissons said of his wingers. "I'm a bit of a calming figure on our line and a bit of a veteran for those guys and constantly talking with them. We know our role on our team, and we need to be physical, and we need to be just tough to play against and get under teams' skin a little bit. We've been doing a good job, a couple times crossing the line, but overall, I think it's been pretty solid. I've enjoyed playing with the two of them."
Trenin (51), Olivier (49) and Sissons (44) rank third, fourth and fifth, respectively, on the Preds in hits, and their willingness to do whatever it takes on the ice often gives Nashville's bench a lift. They've been a key cog for the Predators in the midst of their five-game winning streak with victories in seven of their last eight.
They're not the sole reason for Nashville's recent success, but as Sissons said, they know their role, and they're playing it to perfection.
"They've been an identity line for us," Hynes said. "I really like the way that the three of them have committed to work. They're playing to what their identities as players and as a line is, and that's important. That's why they've had some success. Sometimes we use them to start games to set a tone, sometimes we put them out there after a goal for or a goal against, and other times you might just put them out there because you feel like maybe we've had a couple tough shifts in the defensive zone and we need some energy and some jam to change the momentum of the game. That's the line we like to use in lots of those situations."

Help Nashville with Flood Relief Efforts:

While the Predators were in Chicago over the weekend, many back home in Middle Tennessee were dealing with yet another act of mother nature.
Nashville recorded its second wettest two-day period on record between Saturday and Sunday with 7.01 inches of rain measured, most of it falling between Saturday night and the early-morning hours of Sunday. Significant flash flooding led to four deaths in the region and left numerous homes and businesses damaged or destroyed.
"As a team, we're obviously here in Chicago the last two days, but we heard about the floods in Nashville and just want to send out our thoughts and prayers, as a team, for people who got affected by the floods," Preds Captain Roman Josi said following Sunday's win in Chicago. "People lost their lives. I know there's two people from Home Street Home that lost their lives. It's a charity that's really close to my heart, so if there's any way you can give and help; we're certainly going to come back to Nashville and try to help in any way we can as a team. It's horrible news, but we're thinking of Nashville."

Chicago Wolves Update:

With the Milwaukee Admirals electing to sit out the 2020-21 season in the AHL, the Predators are utilizing an agreement with the Carolina Hurricanes and the Chicago Wolves to serve as Nashville's AHL affiliate this season.
Predators prospects Tanner Jeannot, Anthony Richard, Sean Malone, Cole Smith, Tommy Novak, Tyler Lewington, Lukas Craggs, Patrick Harper, Philip Tomasino, Luke Evangelista and Devin Cooley are currently on the Chicago roster, and many are making an impact as the season continues.

The Wolves were back in action over the weekend with a pair of victories over the Rockford IceHogs - 6-3 on Saturday and 5-4 on Sunday. Jeannot (1g-2a) and Novak (3a) each had three points in Saturday's contest, and Jeannot scored again on Sunday with Tomasino collecting an assist. Evangelista played in his first professional game on Sunday after being assigned to the Wolves, and Cooley made 20 saves in net Sunday for his first AHL win.
Jeannot leads the Wolves with seven goals and 17 points in just 10 games, followed by Novak with 16 points (3g-13a) and Tomasino with 12 points (5g-7a).

Goal(s) of the Week:

Assist of the Week:

NSH@CHI: Johansen deposits Arvidsson's dish in close

Save of the Week:

NSH@CHI: Saros denies Suter by swiping puck out

Quote of the Week:

Preds forward Rocco Grimaldi on scoring four goals in a single game - a 7-1 win over the Red Wings:
"Sometimes you go 15 games with nothing, sometimes you have a night when you have four. I mean, it's a strange, strange game sometimes, and I think for me, personally, I can be pretty pessimistic at times and wonder if the puck is ever going to go in again... Doesn't really matter if I'm scoring, as long as the team's winning games, and that's what my focus needs to be on all the time. It's nice to be rewarded, but as long as my effort's there, how else can you say that you're not doing what you're trying to do, what you're supposed to do? For me, that's working hard, being consistent, so as long as I'm doing that, I'm all right."
