Skinner scores twice as Hurricanes pick up 5-3 pre-season win over Islanders @NHLdotcom

HALIFAX - Jeff Skinner scored twice as the Carolina Hurricanes beat the New YorkIslanders 5-3 Saturday in NHL pre-season action.

Carolina trailed 3-2 in the third period but rallied on goals from Eric Staal, Skinner, and put the game away on an empty-net goal from Victor Rask.

Joakim Nordstrom also scored for the Hurricanes, and Eddie Lack stopped 14 of 16 shots before he was relieved by Drew MacIntyre.

John Tavares, Ryan Strome and Ryan Pulock scored for New York.
