Skinner scores three, Maxwell stops 39 as Kitchener shuts out Otters 4-0 @NHLdotcom

KITCHENER, Ont. - Jeff Skinner scored a hat trick and rookie netminder Brandon Maxwell recorded his first Ontario Hockey League shutout as the Kitchener Rangers blanked the Erie Otters 4-0 on Friday night.

Skinner has been a model of consistency for the Rangers so far this season with a point in 12 of Kitchener's first 15 games. The Markham, Ont., native has five goals and two assists in his last four games.

Maxwell improved his record to 6-1-2 with his strongest performance of the season, stopping all 39 shots he faced.

Jeremy Morin also scored for the Rangers (11-1-3), who scored all four goals on the power play and are on a four-game winning streak.

Chris MacKinnon assisted on all of Skinner's goals. He leads Kitchener with 24 points.

Shane Owen stopped 34 shots for Erie (5-8-3).
