Jeff Skinner scores winner for Hurricanes

Forward's goal in second period the difference in victory against Lightning

Forward Jeff Skinner scored the game-winning goal for the Carolina Hurricanes in a 3-2 win against the Tampa Bay Lightning in a preseason game at Amalie Arena on Tuesday.

Skinner scored 11:28 into the second period to give the Hurricanes a 3-0 lead. Forwards Brody Sutter and Lucas Wallmark also scored for Carolina.

Goalie Cam Ward stopped all 16 shots he faced before being replaced by Daniel Altshuller to start the third period.

Forwards Brayden Point and Bokondji Imama scored for the Lightning. Goalie Kristers Gudlevskis made 21 saves after replacing Adam Wilcox halfway through the second period.
