Skinner activated, can return tonight @NHLdotcom
Carolina is coming off a big win over the defending-champion Bruins Saturday night and the Hurricanes could be in for an even bigger boost tonight when they face the Washington Capitals. Forward Jeff Skinner, who has missed 16 games with a concussion, was activated from injured reserve Sunday morning.

Skinner is eligible to return to the lineup Sunday night.

Carolina's first-round pick in 2010 and last season's Calder Trophy-winner as rookie of the year, Skinner was having an impressive sophomore season before being sidelined due to a hit against the Edmonton Oilers on Dec. 7. With 12 goals and 24 points on the season, Skinner was leading the Hurricanes in scoring at the time of his injury. Despite missing more than a month, he is still second on Carolina in goals and third on the team in points.

While Skinner is eligible to play against Washington, Carolina has not officially said whether or not Skinner will be in the lineup Sunday.
