Simpson scores on himself as Thunderbirds blank Silvertips 4-0

EVERETT, Wash. - Silvertips goaltender Kent Simpson snapped a scoreless tie by scoring into his own net and the Seattle Thunderbirds went on to defeat Everett 4-0 Saturday night in Western Hockey League action.

Everett was on the power play when Simpson went into the corner to play a cleared puck and put it into his own net when trying to pass to a teammate. Brendan Rouse, who cleared the puck from his own zone, was credited with the goal.

Sena Acolatse, Lindsay Nielsen and Jonathan Parker also scored, and Calvin Pickard made 29 saves to record the shutout for Seattle (7-12-4).

Simpson stopped 22 shots in goal for Everett (12-6-1).
