Simpson earns shutout as Silvertips blank Kelowna 4-0; take 3-2 series lead @NHLdotcom

EVERETT, Wash. - Kent Simpson made 21 saves for the shutout as the Everett Silvertips defeated the Kelowna Rockets 4-0 in Game 5 of their Western Hockey League playoff series Friday night.

Tyler Maxwell scored twice for Everett, while Dan Iwanski and Shane Harper also tallied. It was Simpson's 18th birthday.

Mark Guggenberger stopped 29 shots in goal for Kelowna.

The Silvertips took a 3-2 lead in the best-of-seven series. Game 6 will be in Kelowna on Saturday night.
