Silvertips strike for three quick goals in second period, beat Cougars 5-1

EVERETT, Wash. - Everett scored three goals in a seven-minute span of the second period to break open the game, and the Silvertips defeated the Prince George Cougars 5-1 Saturday night in Western Hockey League action.

Chris de la Lande, Jonathan Harty and Dan Gendur scored second-period goals as Everett snapped a 1-1 tie.

Vitaly Karamnov and Jordan Mistelbacher also scored and Shayne Barrie made 25 saves in goal for Everett (31-25-0-2), which defeated the Cougars for the seconds straight night.

Alex Poulter scored for Prince George (15-37-1-3), which lost its fourth straight.

Joel Danyluk, making his first WHL start, stopped 34 shots in net for the Cougars.
