Sidney Crosby 4.18

PHILADELPHIA --Sidney Crosby took a record away from his former landlord Wednesday.

Crosby, who lived in Lemieux's house for his first five NHL seasons (2005-10), has 173 points (62 goals, 111 assists) in 152 playoff games, including a team-high nine points (five goals, four assists) in this series.
Lemieux had 172 points (76 goals, 96 assists) in 107 playoff games.
The Penguins lead the best-of-7 series 3-1 and can close it out in Game 5 at PPG Paints Arena on Friday (7 p.m. ET; NBCSN, CBC, TVAS, ATTSN-PT, NBCSP).
"A lot of his records aren't going to be touched, so the fact that I can be close to him and around that one [means a lot]," Crosby said. "I've been fortunate enough to play in a number of playoff games, which helps a lot, but it's nice to be a part of that."

Lemieux is the Penguins leader in goals (690), assists (1,033) and points (1,723). Crosby is third in goals with 411, trailing Jaromir Jagr by 28 for second. He is second in assists (705) and points (1,116).
But Crosby also has three Stanley Cup championships, and he's 13 wins away from a fourth this season. Lemieux won the Cup twice as a player and three times as the Penguins' co-owner.
"Well, I think he's in elite company," Penguins coach Mike Sullivan said of Crosby. "Mario is one of the greatest players of all time. I think the fact that Sid has accomplished that at this point puts him in very elite company with Mario. That's a testament to Sid's talent level, but also his work ethic. He's played in a lot of playoff games. He's led this team to a lot of playoff success.

"That's the player and the person that I've really grown to respect. The fact that he's been able to accomplish that and be in the same company as Mario I think just speaks volumes of how good a player he is and how competitive a player he is."
Crosby is being chased for the playoff record by Evgeni Malkin, who with his goal and assist in Game 4 is up to 162 points (61 goals, 101 assists) in a team-record 153 playoff games.
"I'm close," Malkin said. "I'm coming too."
