Sidney Crosby 4.21

Sidney Crosby expressed his condolences Tuesday following a mass shooting in his native province of Nova Scotia over the weekend.

The Pittsburgh Penguins center issued a statement through the Sidney Crosby Foundation to the more than 20 victims, which included Constable Heidi Stevenson, a 23-year veteran of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police who was from Crosby's hometown of Cole Harbour.

"I would like to extend my deepest condolences to the family of constable Heidi Stevenson of Cole Harbour, and to all of the families that have lost loved ones and have been affected by this terrible act," Crosby wrote.

"This tragic event has devastated communities throughout Nova Scotia, but I know we will come together and help each other get through this. I am thinking of everyone at home. -- Sidney"

The shootings took place over 12 hours Saturday and Sunday.
