regained the lead in the race for the Rocket Richard Trophy when he scored his League-leading 49th goal in the first period of Thursday night's game against the New York Islanders
Crosby whipped a wrist shot from the top of the right circle through a screen and past goaltender Martin Biron
at 19:02 of the first period, giving the Penguins a 4-2 lead.
Crosby and Washington's Alex Ovechkin
began the night tied for the League lead with 48 goals. Both players have two games remaining after Thursday -- Crosby and the Penguins visit Atlanta on Saturday and the Islanders on Sunday, while Ovechkin and the Caps host Atlanta on Friday night and Boston on Sunday afternoon.
Tampa Bay's Steven Stamkos
went into Thursday night with 47 goals. His team is playing Ottawa at home and has finishes with a home-and-home series against Florida on Saturday and Sunday.
