WINDSOR, Ont. - Justin Shugg scored twice and Greg Nemisz had a goal and two assists as the Windsor Spitfires beat the Barrie Colts 6-1 on Saturday night in the Ontario Hockey League.
Shugg, who also scored twice last night in Kitchener, boosted his season goal total to 15.
Scott Timmins and league scoring leader Taylor Hall both had a goal and an assist for Windsor (39-5-0-1). Ben Shutron also scored for the Spitfires, the top-ranked team in the OHL, who extended their winning streak to a season-high 10 games.
Windsor's Andrew Engelage made 31 saves while establishing a new Spitfire franchise record with 33 wins in a single season. Peter DiSalvo made 33 saves while taking the loss in goal for the Colts.
Alex Hutchings' 23rd goal of the season on an unassisted short-handed effort was the only marker for Barrie (19-22-3-1).
The gritty affair featured five fights and, in accordance with a new league rule regarding helmets and fighting, on two occasions linesmen had to step in when one of the combatants' helmets was knocked off during the fisticuffs.
The win avenged the Spitfires first loss of the season, a 7-2 drubbing at the hands of the Colts in Barrie on Oct. 4.
