Matt Dumba is putting his money where his mouth is in support of Australia.
The Minnesota Wild defenseman will donate $11,200 to the New South Wales Rural Fire Service to help it fight the devastating wildfires in Australia's East Coast.
New South Wales has been ravaged by intense wildfires for almost a month, and at least 25 people, along with millions of animals, have died. Dumba shared his intention on Instagram to donate $100 per point scored by the Minnesota Timberwolves in their game against the Memphis Grizzlies on Tuesday and invited others to do so via a link in his profile.
He also described visiting and his love for the country's coast while sharing 10 pictures from his recent trip.
"After a long hard season dealing with injury, I was able to take my mind off all the what if's," Dumba shared. "I fell in love with this beautiful country It breaks my heart seeing the tragedy they are facing."
The Timberwolves lost to Memphis 119-112.
