Short Shifts

Jakub Vrana helped make one young Washington Capitals fan's year on Sunday.

The Capitals forward posed for a pregame selfie with a lucky 6-year-old fan who was attending her first game, between Washington and the Philadelphia Flyers on Sunday.

Vrana skated over to a girl with a sign that said "6-year-old check list" with her goals for the year, with the only remaining empty box to check reading "Take a selfie with a [Capitals] player." The girl also successfully lost a tooth, attended kindergarten and her first Capitals game, plus picked up a puck, presumably from another Washington player.
"A little girl behind the glass there asked me for a selfie," Vrana told NHL.com, "so I just took one."
The only thing more satisfying was the girl's face when she checked off the final box to complete the list.
