Shinnimin scores 2, leads Americans to 3-0 series lead over Silvertips @NHLdotcom

EVERETT, Wash. - Brendan Shinnimin scored twice in two minutes to break a scoreless deadlock, and the Tri-City Americans took command of their first-round Western Hockey League playoff series against the Everett Silvertips, winning 4-0 Tuesday night.

Tri-City, the top seed in the Western Conference, leads the eighth-seeded Silvertips 3-0 in the best-of-seven series. Game 4 is Wednesday in Everett.

Shinnimin converted a feed from Adam Hughesman 1:41 into the second period to give the Americans the lead, then scored again at 3:21 on a shot from the high slot.

Tri-City prevented Everett from quality scoring chances the rest of the way, and Hughesman clinched it with a late empty-net goal. Justin Feser added a fourth in garbage time.

Ty Rimmer posted the shutout in goal for Tri-City, stopping all 23 shots he faced.

Kent Simpson finished with 27 saves in net for Everett.
