Shinnimin has hat trick as Tri-City cruises to 8-1 win over Chilliwack @NHLdotcom

KENNEWICK, Wash. - Drew Owsley finished with 28 saves and Brendan Shinnimin had a hat trick and an assist to lead the Tri-City Americans to an 8-1 victory over the Chilliwack Bruins in Western Hockey League playoffs action Saturday night.

Todd Kennedy had a pair of goals for the Americans, while Jordan Messier, Kruise Reddick and Eric Mestery also tallied.

Chilliwack's Roman Horak scored on a penalty shot at 14:42 of the third on Alex Pechurskiy, who finished with seven saves in nine minutes of work after replacing Owsley.

Shinnimin gave Tri-City a 1-0 lead in the first period, and added another in the second, padding the Americans' 4-0 lead.

The Americans would pour in four more goals in the third - all on the power play - as Kennedy scored twice, Shinnimin finished his hat trick and Eric Mestery tallied the final goal for Tri-City for an 8-0 lead.

Lucas Gore had 22 saves and trailed 4-0 when he exited the game early in the third. Braden Gamble gave up four goals on six shots.

Tri-City leads the series 2-0. Chilliwack hosts Games 3 and 4 on Tuesday and Wednesday.
