BOUCHERVILLE, Que. - Shawinigan Cataractes forward Matthew Pistilli was named Quebec Major Junior Hockey League player of the week Monday while teammate Simon Lacroix took the defensive honour.
Pistilli had 10 points (six goals, four assists) in three victories last week. Shawinigan's Cedric Lalonde-McNicoll, Felix Petit of the Baie-Comeau Drakkar and Alexandre Labonte of the Victoriaville Tigres were also considered.
Lacroix took the nod for defensive player of the week after recording nine points (4-5) in three games. Shawinigan's Timo Pielmeier, Mark Barberio and Nicola Riopel of the Moncton Wildcats were runners-up.
Wheat Kings forward Fehr named WHL player of week
CALGARY - Brandon Wheat Kings forward Jay Fehr was named Western Hockey League player of the week Monday.
Fehr had nine points (5-4) in three games last week.
The WHL also nominated Martin Jones of the Calgary Hitmen for the Canadian Hockey League goaltender of the week award. Jones posted a 3-0-0-0 record last week with one shutout, a 1.33 goals-against average and .941 save percentage.
Brampton goalie Brandon Foote named OHL player of week
TORONTO - Brampton Battalion goaltender Brandon Foote was named Ontario Hockey League player of the week Monday.
Foote recorded two shutouts, a 1.75 goals-against average and .929 save percentage as Brampton won all four of its games last week.
Joey Hishon of the Owen Sound Attack, Justin DiBenedetto of the Sarnia Sting and Ryan Ellis of the Windsor Spitfires were also considered.
