CRANBROOK, B.C. - Shaun Vey and Colton Yellowhorn scored in the shootout to give the Tri-City Americans a 3-2 win over the Kootenay Ice in WHL action Saturday night.
Taylor Procyshen potted his 28th of the season 5:53 into the first period when he beat Kris Lazaruk on the shortside to give the Americans (47-14-2-2) a 1-0 lead.
The lead held up until the third period, with the Ice (38-20-5-3) on a 5-on-3 power play, Chad Greenan tied it with his eighth on a blast from the point.
Dustin Sylvester put the Ice up 2-1, 27 seconds later but Adam Hughesman tied the game at 8:31 with the Americans on a power play.
After a scoreless overtime Tri-City got two goals by Yellowhorn and Vey to give the Americans the win in the shootout.
Chet Pickard was the difference in the nets for the Americans, stopping 35 of 37 shots, many of the spectacular variety, to get the win while Kris Lazaruk stopped 31 of 33 to take the loss.
