Buffalo rallied back late last night to pick up a point, but they fell to the Vegas Golden Knights 5-4 in overtime at T-Mobile Arena. They had a strong finish to the game, scoring twice in the final 1:58 to tie it up.
The Sabres went 1-2-1 on their four-game Pacific Time Zone swing.

It almost made for a remarkable comeback. Evander Kane scored with 8.9 seconds in regulation to cap a three-goal, third-period comeback for the Buffalo Sabres, only to see David Perron score in overtime to clinch a 5-4 victory for the Vegas Golden Knights at T-Mobile Arena on Tuesday night.
But for all of the positives to be drawn from the Sabres' late-game effort, Phil Housley was more concerned with what happened early.

"I think it's just unacceptable the way we approached the game," Housley said. "We had a chance to build on something and I know this is a process, but the process was a little broken tonight. Our lack of preparation and accountability, and urgency to start the game the way we finished was lacking."

The Sabres finished the night 3-for-5 on the power play, including a pair by Ryan O'Reilly. Sam Reinhart deflected a shot from Rasmus Ristolainen in to make it 4-3 with just under two minutes remaining.
Then Kane batted the puck out of the air to tie the game.

"We were able to basically play in their zone the entire period," Kane said of the third period. "And when we were moving our feet and not being slow like we were in the second, we were able to draw some penalties and capitalize on the man advantage."
