SAN JOSE -The Sharks Foundation announced today that it has raised $1 Million through the Goals for Kids program in partnership with the Koret Foundation, Taube Philanthropies and participating sponsors Marcus & Millichap Foundation, SWENSON and The Sobrato Organization.
For each goal scored by San Jose Sharks players, the Goals for Kids program donates $1,000 to local non-profits dedicated to enhancing the lives of youth and families in need in the Bay Area. When San Jose Sharks Mikkel Boedker scored at 15:54 of the second period that goal, which stood as the game-winner, marked the $1 Million achievement.

"The Goals for Kids program allows each goal scored on the ice to help our community partners reach their goals in the community," said Heather Hooper, Sharks Foundation Director. "Thanks to our presenting partners and participating sponsors, we now have all the more reason to celebrate each score."
During the first three seasons of the program from 2014-17, $822,000 was raised and distributed to 11 local non-profit organizations addressing various areas of need including, educational opportunities for underserved youth, families coping with pediatric illnesses and rising medical expenses, and support of homeless individuals and those with special needs.
"Taube Philanthropies has as one of its core activities, providing a variety of programs through Goals for Kids so that underserved youngsters have the education, tools and resources to lead productive lives," said Tad Taube, chairman of Taube Philanthropies. "We have been proud to partner with the San Jose Sharks in supporting Goals for Kids to help underserved kids achieve their goals and aspirations."
"Koret is pleased to celebrate $1 Million raised for the Goals for Kids program, which has had a tremendous impact on thousands of Bay Area children and families," said Jeff Farber, CEO of the Koret Foundation. "As part of our commitment to strengthening the Bay Area, Koret is honored to team up with the Sharks organization, its players, and fans to support these outstanding organizations that are improving the lives of those in need in our community."
At the conclusion of the 2017-18 season, funds raised through the Goals for Kids program will be split evenly among this year's eight beneficiaries: Jewish Family Services of Silicon Valley, Loved Twice, Muscular Dystrophy Association, Ronald McDonald House Charities Bay Area, Students Rising Above, Victory Ranch, Via Services, Inc. and Youth Science Institute.
