Sharks keep Coyotes winless in preseason @NHLdotcom

Martin Jones made 18 saves, Joe Pavelski scored twice and the San Jose Sharks defeated the Arizona Coyotes 3-0 in a preseason game Friday at Gila River Arena.

Pavelski had a power-play goal 5:46 into the game. Tomas Hertl scored on a 2-on-1 rush at 1:52 of the third period and assisted on Pavelski's goal at 11:23 for San Jose (4-1-1), which completes its preseason at the Anaheim Ducks on Saturday.

Mike Smith made 27 saves for the Coyotes, which ended the preseason 0-5-1. Arizona opens its regular season at the Los Angeles Kings on Oct. 9.
