Sharks honor Howe at SAP Center before Game 6

The San Jose Sharks honored the late Gordie Howe by singling out a section of upper-bowl seats at SAP Center and forming his iconic No. 9 with T-shirts prior to Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Sunday (8 p.m. ET, NBC, CBC, TVA Sports).

Howe, who died Friday at the age of 88, was
among the first to don a Sharks jersey
at their logo unveiling in 1991. He had 801 goals and 1,850 points in his 26-season NHL career.
Howe, a four-time Stanley Cup champion, played 25 seasons with the Detroit Red Wings. He retired as the League's all-time leader in goals and points. He ranks second in goals behind Wayne Gretzky (894) and fourth in points behind Jaromir Jagr (1,868), Mark Messier (1,887) and Gretzky (2,857).
The Red Wings responded to Sharks' gesture with appreciation.

The Penguins won Game 6, 3-1, and took their first Stanley Cup since 2009.
