The Sharks Foundation announced today it will host a beautification project and light installation in partnership with the San Jose Downtown Association on Tuesday, April 25, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. With the help of a $20,000 donation from the Foundation, the project will support environmental beautification and crime prevention of Fountain Alley in downtown San Jose between First and Second streets.

Volunteers from the San Jose Sharks and Downtown Association will install string lights, add a fresh coat of paint and new landscaping, and conduct alleyway cleanup. In addition, local artists have designed other decorative elements, such as Sharks pennants and shark-shaped stencils, to go along with teal lights and other features of the space.
The evening will culminate with a lighting ceremony that includes guest speakers John Tortora of the Sharks and Chuck Hammers of the Downtown Association.
In line with its Environmental Awareness campaign, the Sharks Foundation has funded various local environmental initiatives totaling an estimated $25,000, which will impact approximately 100,000 individuals during April.
