Metallica lead singer, 'MacGyver' boost Sharks

The San Jose Sharks advanced to the Stanley Cup Final with their 5-2 win against the St. Louis Blues in Game 6 of the Western Conference Final on Wednesday, with assistance from some famous friends.
James Hetfield, co-founder and lead singer for the heavy metal band Metallica, opened the door to the Sharks locker room before the game and traded fist bumps with the players, the sound of Metallica's "Seek and Destroy" blaring in the background.

The Sharks persevered even after the Blues cut their lead to 4-2 late in the third period. That may be because Richard Dean Anderson of "MacGyver" fame was there to guide them along.

After the final buzzer, some of the Sharks' Bay Area-sports brethren took to Twitter to congratulate them on their first trip to the Stanley Cup Final.

The Golden State Warriors, competing in the NBA's Western Conference Finals, congratulated the Sharks with help from league MVP Stephen Curry.

The Sharks responded, trying to inspire the Warriors to rebound from a 3-1 deficit in their series against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The Sharks are waiting to find out who they will play in the Stanley Cup Final. The Pittsburgh Penguins and Tampa Bay Lightning play Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Final at Consol Energy Center on Thursday (8 p.m. ET; NBCSN, CBC, TVA Sports).
Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final will be 8 p.m. in either San Jose or Pittsburgh on Monday.
