COLUMBUS, Ohio - Shane Doan had two goals and an assist and Ilya Bryzgalov made 31 saves in the Phoenix Coyotes' 5-2 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Wednesday night.

Doan had his third two-goal game of the season to help the Coyotes to their third win in a row.

Steve Reinprecht and Kevin Porter added goals for Phoenix, with Martin Hanzal contributing an empty-netter after Doan's try for a hat trick hit the post in the final seconds. Keith Yandle chipped in with two assists.

It was the first career loss for Columbus goalie Steve Mason, who was the NHL's second star of the week after winning his first three starts last week.

Bryzgalov has won his last three starts and four of the last five, giving up just eight goals in those five games.

Rick Nash, ending the second-longest goal-less streak of his career, picked up his first goal in 10 games when he ended the shutout in the third period with a power-play goal. The Blue Jackets, who had won three in a row and captured points in six games in a row coming in, had not scored with the man advantage in their previous 20 chances.

Derick Brassard, who assisted on Nash's goal, added a late goal. He came into the game leading all league rookies in points. The goal was his seventh, to go with eight assists.

The game got chippy in the final minute, with Columbus rookie Jake Voracek getting hit with an inadvertent stick to the face while Phoenix's Olli Jokinen was cross-checking Brassard next to the Coyotes goal.

A video review disallowed a Nash goal midway through the opening period, officials saying he batted the puck into the net with his hand.

Not long after that, the Coyotes scored when Yandle's shot from the left point was redirected by Reinprecht for his second of the season.

Doan made it 2-0 at 7:41 of the second, taking a long pass from Peter Mueller, splitting two defencemen and flashing to the net, backhanding the puck past Mason, who had 25 saves.

Phoenix defenceman Ed Jovanovski was hit by an inadvertent high stick by the Blue Jackets' Kristian Huselius late in the second period. Jovanovski was cut in the face and was on all fours on the ice for a couple of minutes before getting up, although he returned to play on the power play. The Coyotes failed to score - and weren't credited with a shot on goal - on the double minor.

Bryzgalov prevented the Blue Jackets from breaking through early in the third when he stoned Fredrik Modin who had a stuff shot that the goalie froze under his right pad.

Porter then notched his second of the season to make it 3-0. After taking a pass from the blue line from Yandle, Porter skated laterally in the crease. Mason poke the puck away briefly, but Porter collected it and went high over Mason, the puck glancing off defenceman Jan Hejda.

Doan added his second moments later, skating in off a long feed from Jovanovski and tapping the puck underneath Mason who slid inside the cage. After a video review, the goal was confirmed.
