Shalla's pair leads Saginaw Spirit in 5-3 upset of Kitchener Rangers @NHLdotcom

SAGINAW, Mich. - Josh Shalla scored two goals, including the eventual game winner, as the Saginaw Spirit broke a three game win less streak beating the Kitchener Rangers 5-3 in Ontario Hockey League action Saturday night.

Michael Sgarbossa, Ryan O'Connor and Garret Ross also scored for the Spirit (18-15-4). Jordan Skellett with three assist and Tyler Murovich with a pair of helpers were also keys to the win.

Michael Catenacci, Gabriel Landeskog and Jeff Skinner had markers for Kitchener (25-10-3), while Chris MacKinnon contributed two assists.

Saginaw jumped out to an early 2-0 first period lead only to see the Rangers tie it with a pair of goals in the second half of the opening period.

The Spirit scored two unanswered goals in the middle frame and then held on for the win.

Kitchener out shot the Spirit 46-36 and was 1-for-6 on the power play. Saginaw was 2-for-4 with the man advantage.

Edward Pasquale stopped 43 of 46 shots for the Spirit and former Spirit netminder Mavric Parks had 31 saves.
