Shalla scores twice to lead the Spirit over the Otters 7-1

SAGINAW, Mich. - The Saginaw Spirit won their second straight game since the firing of general manager and head coach Todd Watson, beating the Erie Otters 7-1 on Sunday in Ontario Hockey League action.

Josh Shalla had his second straight two-goal game and also added one assist to lead the way for the Spirit (13-17-2). Garret Ross and John McFarland each had a goal and an assist, while Anthony Camara, Terry Trafford and Ryan O'Connor added singles.

Connor Brown scored the only goal for the Otters (4-25-2).

Jake Paterson stopped 43 of 44 shots for the win while Ramis Sadikov allowed all seven goals on 34 shots.

Saginaw went 1-for-3 on the power play while Erie failed to score on either of their opportunities with the man advantage.

John Kisil handled the duties behind the bench for a second straight game with Greg Gilbert set to join the team on Monday as the new head coach. Jim Paliafito was named as the new general manager.
