Shalla becomes franchise goal leader as Spirit beat Spitfires 5-1 @NHLdotcom

SAGINAW, Mich. - Josh Shalla scored early in the first period to become the all-time goal leader in Saginaw Spirit history as his club defeated the visiting Windsor Spitfires 5-1 on Friday in Ontario Hockey League action.

The 20-year-old forward now has 119 goals with the Saginaw franchise, one more than Ryan McDonough who previously held the record.

Eric Locke scored twice for the Spirit (32-27-8), who have won three in a row, while Brad Walch and Michael Fine had a goal and an assist each.

Justin Kea chipped in with two assists.

Brady Vail scored the lone goal for the Spitfires (29-31-7), who lost in regulation time for the first time in four outings.

Clint Windsor made 27 saves for the win as John Cullen allowed four goals on 11 shots through 20 minutes of action.

Jordan DeKort finished the game and turned away 22 of 23 shots in relief.

Saginaw went 1 for 4 on the power play while Windsor scored once on seven chances with the man advantage.
