SAGINAW, Mich. - Josh Shalla and Michael Fine had two goals and two assists each as the Saginaw Spirit crushed the visiting Guelph Storm 8-3 on Friday in Ontario Hockey League action.
Brad Walch and Eric Locke had a goal and an assist apiece for the Spirit (17-20-2) while Terry Trafford and Nick Moutrey added single goals. Brandon Saad chipped in with four assists.
Justin Auger led the Storm (15-17-5) offensively with two goals as Zack Mitchell scored the other.
Clint Windsor picked up the win for Saginaw, although he allowed three goals on six shots and was pulled after one period. Jake Paterson came in for the final two periods and stopped all 23 shots he faced.
Guelph starter Garret Sparks allowed five goals on 34 shots before being replaced in the second period by Brandon Foote. Foote allowed three goals on 17 shots in relief.
The Spirit went 1 for 2 on the power play while Guelph failed to score on five opportunities with the man advantage.
