Sexsmith turns aside 30 shots as Vancouver cruises past Spokane 4-1

SPOKANE, Wash. - Tyson Sexsmith stopped 30 shots and Michal Repik finished with a goal and an assist as the Vancouver Giants defeated the Spokane Chiefs 4-1 in Western Hockey League playoff action Friday night.

The Giants lead the best-of-seven Western Conference semifinal series 1-0, with Game 2 set to take place Sunday night in Spokane. The series shifts to Vancouver for Games 3, 4 and 5.

Spencer Machacek, Evander Kane and Mario Bliznak also scored for Vancouver and Brent Regner notched three assists.

Defenceman Trevor Glass scored Spokane's lone goal and Chiefs' goalie Dustin Tokarski finished with 23 saves in his first post-season loss.
