McCann hat trick lifts Panthers past Lightning @NHLdotcom

Jared McCann had a hat trick for the Florida Panthers in a 5-2 win against the Tampa Bay Lightning at BB&T Center on Thursday.

McCann scored to give the Panthers a 2-0 lead at 14:24 of the first period. He scored again at 13:32 of the second to make it 3-1 before completing the hat trick at 9:53 of the third for a 4-1 lead.

Radim Vrbata put the Panthers ahead 1-0 8:17 into the game, and Colton Sceviour scored into an empty net with 29 seconds left to make it 5-2. James Reimer made 34 saves for Florida.

Alex Killorn (power play) and Vladislav Namestnikov scored for the Lightning. Peter Budaj allowed four goals on 32 shots.


Five Flyers score in win against Bruins

Five Philadelphia Flyers scored in a 5-1 win against the Boston Bruins at Wells Fargo Center.

Travis Konecny (13:12, power play) and Jakub Voracek (19:49) scored in the first period to put the Flyers ahead 2-0.

Defenseman Brandon Manning made it 3-0 at 4:51 of the second, and Wayne Simmonds scored shorthanded at 8:46 for a 4-0 lead.

Boston center David Krejci scored 48 seconds into the third to make it 4-1. Sean Couturier scored at 4:06 to put the Flyers ahead 5-1.

Alex Lyon made 31 saves for the Flyers. Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask had 14 saves on 18 shots through the second period, and Malcolm Subban made six saves in relief.

Blackhawks rally for win against Red Wings

Alex DeBrincat had a goal and an assist for the Chicago Blackhawks in a 4-2 win against the Detroit Red Wings at Little Caesars Arena.

After trailing 2-1 following the second period, the Blackhawks scored three straight goals in the third. Tommy Wingels tied it 2-2 at 1:41 before DeBrincat scored on the power play at 8:16 to put Chicago ahead 3-2. Laurent Dauphin scored into an empty net with 1:25 remaining to make it 4-2.

Anton Forsberg made 32 saves for the Blackhawks.

Michael Rasmussen and Libor Sulak scored for the Red Wings. Petr Mrazek made 37 saves.

Wild defeat Blues with late goal

Charlie Coyle scored shorthanded with 4.3 seconds remaining in the third period to give the Minnesota Wild a 3-2 win against the St. Louis Blues at Sprint Center, Kansas City.

Wild defenseman Kyle Quincey scored 9:29 into the third to tie it 2-2.

Vladimir Tarasenko scored on the power play 8:06 into the first period to give the Blues a 1-0 lead. Luke Kunin tied it 1-1 at 16:27.

Oskar Sundqvist gave the Blues a 2-1 lead at 15:44 of the second period.


Blue Jackets defeat Predators in shootout

Alexander Wennberg and Artemi Panarin scored in the shootout, and the Columbus Blue Jackets defeated the Nashville Predators 4-3 at Bridgestone Arena.

Sergei Bobrovsky, who made 21 saves for the Blue Jackets, stopped shootout attempts by Viktor Arvidsson and Ryan Johansen. Kevin Fiala scored in the shootout for the Predators.

Predators defenseman Matt Irwin tied the game 3-3 at 14:25 of the third period.

Oliver Bjorkstrand gave the Blue Jackets a 1-0 lead 3:38 into the first period, but Scott Hartnell tied it 1-1 at 4:04.

Goals by Nick Foligno on the power play 30 seconds into the second period and Zach Werenski at 15:18 gave the Blue Jackets a 3-1 lead.

Fiala scored 3:56 into the third to make it 3-2.

Pekka Rinne made 27 saves for the Predators.


Ducks goalies Gibson, Berra shut out Sharks

Anaheim Ducks goalies John Gibson and Reto Berra combined to shut out the San Jose Sharks 3-0 at Honda Center.

Gibson made 15 saves through the second period before he was replaced to start the third by Berra, who had nine saves.

Chris Wagner, Antoine Vermette and Kalle Kossila each scored in the third period for Anaheim.

Martin Jones made 23 saves for San Jose.


Nilsson, Canucks hold off Flames

Anders Nilsson made 30 saves, and the Vancouver Canucks defeated the Calgary Flames 3-1 at Rogers Arena.

Goals by Jake Virtanen 4:52 into the first period, Michael Del Zotto on the power play 7:25 into the second and Darren Archibald 8:45 into the third gave the Canucks a 3-0 lead.

Flames center Sean Monahan scored on the power play at 13:57 of third to make it 3-1.

Mike Smith made 27 saves for Calgary.

Andrighetto, Varlamov lift Avalanche past Golden Knights

Sven Andrighetto had a goal and an assist for the Colorado Avalanche in a 4-2 win against the Vegas Golden Knights at T-Mobile Arena.

Semyon Varlamov made 34 saves for Colorado to improve to 3-0-0 in the preseason.

Nail Yakupov scored at 16:24 of the first period for a 1-0 Avalanche lead before Andrighetto scored with 49 seconds remaining in the period to make it 2-0.

Mikko Rantanen and Tyson Jost scored for Colorado in the third period.

Colin Miller and Shea Theodore scored for the Golden Knights, and Marc-Andre Fleury made 18 saves.

Cammalleri helps Kings past Coyotes

Michael Cammalleri scored two goals for the Los Angeles Kings in a 4-1 win against the Arizona Coyotes at Staples Center.

Drew Doughty scored on the power play at 15:53 of the first period to give Los Angeles a 1-0 lead.

Cammalleri scored with 3:57 to go in the second period to put the Kings ahead 2-0.

Jeff Carter beat Coyotes goalie Louis Domingue from the top of the crease 1:12 into the third for a 3-0 lead, and Cammalleri scored on the power play for his second goal of the night at 4:28 to make it 4-0.

Clayton Keller scored on the power play to make it 4-1 at 10:54.

Jonathan Quick made 37 saves for the Kings, and Domingue had 34.
