Senators' Wiercioch leaves Game 3 with lower-body injury

OTTAWA -- Ottawa Senators defenseman Patrick Wiercioch suffered a lower-body injury during the first period of Game 3 of the club’s Eastern Conference Quarterfinal against the Montreal Canadiens at Scotiabank Place.

According to the Senators, Wiercioch, who was playing in his first postseason game of this series, will not return to the game. The incident occurred at 12:05, when he tripped a Canadiens’ player and appeared to lose his balance as he was turning.

Wiercioch played 1:48 in the game prior to the injury. He had 19 points (five goals, 14 assists) in 44 regular-season games for Ottawa.
