Forward gets $13 million, would have become unrestricted free agent after this season

Forward Zack Smith signed a four-year, $13 million contract with the Ottawa Senators on Monday. It has an average annual value of $3.25 million and runs through the 2020-21 season.

Smith, 28, is in the final year of a four-year, $7.55 million contract, according to CapFriendly.

Smith, who was selected by the Senators in the third round (No. 79) of the 2008 NHL Draft, has 11 goals and 11 assists in 43 games this season. He set NHL career highs in goals (25), points (36) and shooting percentage (20.7) in 81 games last season.
