Erik Karlsson proposed by putting the ring in a pizza

Erik Karlsson really delivered on this proposal.
The Ottawa Senators defenseman took the leap during Friday's off night, proposing to girlfriend Melinda Currey, and he did so by putting the whopping diamond ring in the center of a pepperoni pizza.

Now, before you judge the level of romance in this proposal, consider this: it seems that Currey really, really likes pizza.
A quick scroll through Karlsson's Instagram page shows a photo from last year of Currey holding two pizzas and wearing a pizza-themed sweatshirt. This is also the same place you will find photos of the couple from
Halloween dressed as the ballet dancers from the movie "Black Swan."

Currey posted a photo of the ring in its box at the center of the pizza on her Instagram page and wrote "In case there was ever any doubt that he's the one... #dreamproposal #dreamguy." Karlsson later posted a photo of the happy couple and wrote "Couldn't be more proud to call her my forever. Without her I'm nothing. #shesaidyes"

So there you have it, an upcoming wedding and an immediate pizza. Who could ask for more?
