Senators' Emery suspended 3 games for slashing @NHLdotcom

TORONTO (AP) -Ottawa goalie Ray Emery was suspended three games by the NHL on Monday for slashing Montreal forward Maxim Lapierre.

Emery swung his stick and hit Lapierre in the face during the second period of the Senators' 5-3 win Saturday night over the Canadiens. Emery got a minor penalty on the play. Lapierre, who was wearing a visor, was not hurt.

Emery will be eligible to return Feb. 22 at Buffalo. He has a 24-13-2 record, 2.40 goals-against average and .923 save percentage this season.

Emery will forfeit nearly $15,000 in salary, which goes to the players' emergency assistance fund.
