Sea Dogs blow two-goal third period lead but beat Foreurs in the shootout 5-4 @NHLdotcom

SAINT JOHN, N.B. - Aidan Kelly scored the shootout winner as the Saint John Sea Dogs edged the Val-d'Or Foreurs 5-4 in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action Friday night.

The Sea Dogs looked to have the game wrapped up in regulation but Nicolas Larocque-Marcoux sent the game to overtime with three seconds left in regulation.

Stephen Anderson, Stanislav Galiev, Mackenzie Brown and Jason Cameron scored for Saint John (2-3-0).

Benjamin Casavant had two goals and added an assist for Val-d'Or (3-4-0), while Artem Sergeev also counted.

Mathieu Corbeil-Theriault made 31 saves for Saint John, while Francois Tremblay turned away 28 shots for the Foreurs.

Elsewhere in the QMJHL it was: Halifax 3 Rouyn-Noranda 2; Quebec 5 Victoriaville 3; Drummondville 2 Shawinigan 1; Baie-Comeau 6 Cape Breton 2; Gatineau 6 Blainville-Boisbriand 2 and Rimouski 6 Chicoutimi 5 (SO).

At Saint John, Val-d'Or opened the scoring 2:26 into the game when Casavant converted with the Foreurs on a man advantage.

But the Sea Dogs stormed back and took a 2-1 lead when Anderson and Galiev beat Tremblay just over four minutes apart midway through the period.

The teams headed into the intermission tied when Casavant got his second of the game with 2:17 left.

Mackenzie Brown and Jason Cameron scored in the second period to give the Sea Dogs a 4-2 lead going into the third.

But Sergeev pulled a goal back for the Foreurs 3:26 into the third with Val-d'Or on a power play. That set up Larocque-Marcoux's heroics in the final seconds but the Foreurs couldn't complete the comeback.

Saint John's Corbeil-Theriault stopped all four shootout attempts he faced with Kelly getting the winner.

At Halifax, Matthew Boudreau scored the eventual game-winning goal with the 48 seconds left in the second period as the Mooseheads (3-2-0) edged Rouyn-Noranda (2-3-1).

At Drummondville, Que., Jerome Raymond scored a goal and added an assist as the Voltigeurs (2-3-0) beat Shawinigan (4-3-0).

Remparts 5 Tigres 3

At Victoriaville, Que., Mikhail Grigorenko scored a pair and an assist and Mikael Tam also had two goals as Quebec (2-2-1) beat the Tigres (4-1-0).

Drakkar 6 Screaming Eagles 2

At Baie-Comeau, Que., Carl Gelinas scored twice and added an assist as the Drakkar (4-1-0) hammered Cape Breton (4-2-0).

Olympiques 6 Armada 2

At Gatineau, Que., Tomas Hyka scored two goals and a pair of assists and Christian Ouellet had two goals and an assist as the Olymiques (3-3-0) beat Blainville-Boisbriand (3-3-0).

Oceanic 6 Sagueneens 5 (SO)

At Rimouski, Que., Jerome Gauthier-Leduc scored twice and added an assist and scored the shootout winner as the Oceanic (3-3-0) beat Chicoutimi (2-3-0).
