Scott Timmins nets two goals as Rangers defeat IceDogs 5-3 @NHLdotcom

ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - Scott Timmins scored two goals, including an empty-netter, as the Kitchener Rangers defeated the Niagara IceDogs 5-3 in Ontario Hockey League action Thursday.

The Rangers scored twice in the opening 48 seconds, Brandon Mashinter and Dan Kelly scoring 12 second apart while Timmins made it 3-0 at 2:37. The Rangers scored on their first three shots on IceDogs goaltender John Cullen, who made 26 saves in the game.

Andrew Agozzino, with the first of his two, scored before the end of the period.

Jeff Skinner restored the three-goal lead with the only goal of the second period before Andrew Merrett brought Niagara back to within two early in the third.

Agozzino brought the IceDogs to within one with 89 seconds to go, but Timmins took advantage of a Matt Piva giveaway to score on an empty net.

Park Van Buskirk played well in the Rangers goal with 37 saves as the IceDogs held a 40-31 shots advantage.
