REGINA - Scott Glennie scored the shootout winner to give the Brandon Wheat Kings a 4-3 victory over the Regina Pats in WHL action Sunday.
Down 3-0 after two periods, Brandon (2-0) battled back with three goals in the third to force an overtime period before sealing the deal in the shootout.
Regina (0-2) started the scoring just over a minute into the game when Jordan Weal picked up a loose puck in the neutral zone, wheeled over the Brandon blue-line and ripped a wrist shot past goalie Andrew Hayes for his first of the season.
Three minutes later, Regina added another one when Scott Doucet banged in a Weal rebound for his second goal of the season.
Weal was in on the action again at when Regina went ahead 3-0 at the 5:22 mark of the second. After drawing two Brandon players towards him, Weal feathered a perfect pass to a wide-open Rudolf Cerveny who then one-timed a slapshot top shelf.
Brandon's comeback began just 36 seconds into the third with Andrew Clark's third goal of the season.
Brayden Schenn made it 3-2 six minutes later when he took a nice feed from behind the net, deked out Regina goalie Jeff Bosch then popped it under the crossbar.
At 10:52, Brandon's Aaron Lewadniuk made it all square with a wrist shot from in close.
Glennie, Brandon's third shooter, scored the only goal of the shootout.
Hayes earned his first win of the season for Brandon while facing 37 shots.
Regina goalie Jeff Bosch faced 34 shots.
