WINNIPEG - Cory Schneider made 28 saves and the Manitoba Moose edged the Grand Rapids Griffins 2-1 in Game 2 of the AHL North Division final Saturday.
Moose centre Alexandre Bolduc scored a short-handed goal at 4:34 of the first period and Jason Krog added one more in the second as Manitoba took a 2-0 series lead.
Darren McCarty's power-play marker in the second period stood as the only goal the Griffins got past Schneider, the AHL's goaltender of the year.
Griffins goalie Jimmy Howard stopped 20 shots.
The Moose and Griffins return to Grand Rapids, Mich., on Monday for Game 3.
