SARNIA, Ont. - The Sarnia Sting fired Alan Millar as general manager on Monday while handing head coach Dave MacQueen a three-year contract extension with the OHL team.

MacQueen will also serve as interim GM "until further structural changes can be evaluated and put into place," the club said in a statement.

The Sting were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs Saturday, going down 8-1 to Plymouth in a 4-1 series loss. They finished fourth in the West Division of the Midwest Conference with a 35-26-4-3 record.

MacQueen, a native of Woodstock, Ont.., has spent 13 year as a head coach in the OHL with Peterborough Petes, Erie Otters and Sting, whom he joined in 2006.

He also spent two years (1996-98) as assistant coach with the NHL's Tampa Bay Lightning.
