The San Jose Sharks traded the rights to left wing Dylan Sadowy to the Detroit Red Wings for a third-round pick in the 2017 NHL Draft on Thursday.

The Red Wings have until June 1 to sign Sadowy to an entry-level contract. If he is unsigned, he would become eligible for the 2016 NHL Draft, which will be held at First Niagara Center in Buffalo on June 24-25.

Detroit would receive a compensatory fourth-round pick in the 2016 draft if it does not sign Sadowy.

The Sharks selected Sadowy in the third round (No. 81) of the 2014 NHL Draft. He scored 45 goals in 64 games this season with Saginaw and Barrie in the Ontario Hockey League.
