San Jose goes for eighth straight win; Ejdsell makes NHL debut for Chicago

The Game

The San Jose Sharks will try for their eighth straight victory when they play the Chicago Blackhawks at United Center on Sunday.

A win by the Sharks would match their third-longest winning streak in team history and would be their longest since Feb. 13-March 3, 2011.

San Jose trails the Pacific Division-leading Vegas Golden Knights by six points; the Sharks are four points ahead of the Anaheim Ducks for second place with one game in hand.

The Blackhawks recalled forward Victor Ejdsellfrom Rockford of the American Hockey League on Sunday, and he will make his NHL debut. The Blackhawks acquired Ejdsell on Feb. 26 in a trade that sent forward Ryan Hartman to the Nashville Predators.


Players to watch

Sharks forward Logan Couture has eight points (five goals, three assists) in his past six games after going pointless in his previous four.

Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane has 14 points (three goals, 11 assists) in his past 13 games.

Status report

Couture did not play in the second half of the third period on Saturday but took part in the morning skate and is ready to go. ... The Blackhawks signed prospect Dylan Sikura to an entry-level contract on Sunday. He will practice with the team Wednesday and could make his NHL debut Thursday against the Winnipeg Jets.
