Joe Thornton's new injury rehab partner may be short on experience, but he's definitely got some skills.

The San Jose Sharks forward, who is recovering from knee surgery, worked out on the ice with his son, River, at SAP Center on Saturday.

The duo brightened up the ice with  River, wearing his dad's trademark No. 19, put a few pucks in the net with dad looking on.

Sharks goalie coach Johan Hedberg was between the pipes for a while. River scored on him and learned the fine art of celebrating from his old man.

The whole session ended with a bear hug and a kiss from Jumbo to mini-Jumbo.
