MEDICINE HAT, Alta. - Henrik Samuelsson and Dylan Wruck combined for six points as the Edmonton Oil Kings defeated the host Medicine Hat Tigers 4-2 on Wednesday in Western Hockey League playoff action.
Samuelsson scored twice and added an assist for the Oil Kings, who will advance to Eastern Conference final after sweeping the Tigers 4-0 in second-round action, while Wruck had three assists.
Griffin Reinhart and Trevor Cheek also scored for Edmonton, which outscored Medicine Hat 19-5 in the series.
Hunter Shinkaruk and Boston Leier scored for the Tigers, who had trouble beating Edmonton's Laurent Brossoit all series.
Brossoit stopped 32 shots for the win and in four games against Medicine Hat he had a 1.25 goals-against average and .957 save percentage.
Can Lanigan made 38 saves in defeat.
Edmonton went 0 for 3 on the power play while Medicine Hat scored once on six chances with the man advantage.
The Oil Kings are heading to the East final for the second season in a row and will face either the Calgary Hitmen or Red Deer Rebels. The Hitmen currently lead the best-of-seven second-round matchup 3-1 with Game 5 set for Thursday in Calgary.
