Sam Bennett signed a two-year, $5.1 million contract with the Calgary Flames on Wednesday. It has an average annual value of $2.55 million.

The 23-year-old forward, who was a restricted free agent, avoided a salary arbitration hearing scheduled for Saturday. He had 27 points (13 goals, 14 assists) in 71 games with the Flames last season and had five points (one goal, four assists) in five Stanley Cup Playoff games.
Selected by Calgary with the No. 4 pick in the 2014 NHL Draft, Bennett has 116 points (55 goals, 61 assists) in 312 regular-season games and 11 points (six goals, five assists) in 20 playoff games for the Flames.
