The Vancouver Canucks
recalled defenseman Sami Salo
from the AHL's Manitoba Moose on Friday.
Salo scored two goals during his three-game conditioning assignment with the Moose. He hasn't appeared in an NHL game this season after tearing his Achilles' tendon while working out in July.
The 36-year-old Salo couldn't have returned at a better time. The blue line of the Canucks has been ravaged by injuries of late, with Alexander Edler
(back surgery) out indefinitely, Keith Ballard
(knee) out until March and Dan Hamhuis
questionable for Saturday's game against the Calgary Flames
with a possible head injury.
Salo had 9 goals and 19 assists in 68 games for the Canucks last season.
To make room on the roster, the Canucks re-assigned forward Cody Hodgson
