Saint John Sea Dogs stretch streak to five in 6-1 win over Titan @NHLdotcom

The Saint John Sea Dogs have dominated both ends of the rink lately, and have been rewarded with a share of first place in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

Yann Sauve scored and had two assists as the Sea Dogs extended their winning streak to five games in a 6-1 victory over the Acadie-Bathurst Titan on Sunday.

Sauve has been a key part of the Sea Dogs' streak, scoring at least a point in each victory. Stanislav Galiev and Steven Anthony have also been hot, contributing points in their last four games.

Saint John outscored its opponents 23-7 during its win streak, with only three goals allowed in the past three games. The span has tied the Sea Dogs with Drummondville at the top of the QMJHL standings, only losing ground to the Voltigeurs on games played.

After four victories have all been with Marc-Antoine Gelinas between the pipes for the Sea Dogs, Saint John went with Karel St-Laurent in goal Sunday. The result was the same as St-Laurent made 21 saves for his fourth win of the season.

Elsewhere in the QMJHL it was: Victoriaville 8 Baie-Comeau 1; Rimouski 4 Chicoutimi 1; and Drummondville 6 Shawinigan 3.

At Saint John, N.B., Simon Despres and Mike Hoffman both added a goal and an assist for Saint John (13-4-1), while Mike Thomas, Nathan Beaulieu, and Galiev scored in the rout.

Derek Famulare had the lone marker for Acadie-Bathurst (7-8-3), and Guillaume Nadeau stopped 33 shots.


Tigres 8 Drakkar 1

At Victoriaville, Que., captain Philip-Michael Devos and Phillip Danault each had a goal and two assists in the Tigres' rout of Baie-Comeau.

Marc-Andre Laroche had two goals, while Yannick Dube, Pierre-Luc Pelletier, and Travis McIsaac all scored for Victoriaville (9-6-1). Centre Tomas Kubalik had four assists, while Kevin Poulin made 27 saves.

Mike Villeneuve had the only goal for the Drakkar (4-12-1), while Nathan Dunnett stopped 32 shots.


Oceanic 4 Sagueneens 1

At Rimouski, Que., Patrick Delisle-Houde and Emmanuel Boudreau both scored and added two helpers as the Oceanic beat Chicoutimi.

Ryan Kavanagh had a goal and an assist for Rimouski (9-4-3) while Nicholas Samoluk also scored. Philippe Tremblay turned away 17 shots for the win.

Captain Nicolas Deschamps was the lone scorer for Chicoutimi (7-6-4), and goaltender Robin Gusse made 28 saves.


Voltigeurs 6 Cataractes 3

At Drummondville, captain Marc-Olivier Vachon led the Voltigeurs with a pair of goals and an assist as they bounced back from last night's loss to beat Shawinigan.

Sean Couturier, Charles Landry, Jonathan Brunelle and Benoit Levesque all scored as Drummondville (13-2-1) maintained their hold on first place in the QMJHL. Goaltender Antoine Tardif made 27 saves in the win.

Michael Claffey, Raphael Pouliot, and Michael Bournival had a goal each for Shawinigan (8-7-2). Gabriel Girard and Francois Lacerte combined to stop 37 shots.
