Saint John Sea Dogs extend streak to 11 by beating Huskies 6-3

These days, the Saint John Sea Dogs are all about the streaks.

They beat Rouyn-Noranda 6-3 Sunday afternoon in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League play for back-to-back victories over the Huskies.

Saint John's win is its 11th in a row, a run that is keeping the Sea Dogs ahead of the Drummondville Voltigeurs in the QMJHL standings.

Fortunately for Saint John, the third place Quebec Remparts are starting to slip back in the standings.

Centre Michael Kirkpatrick's points streak also continues to grow, as he scored a short-handed, empty-net goal with 29 seconds left to play.

Kirkpatrick has now scored in eight consecutive games, scoring two goals and nine assists since Oct. 24.

Elsewhere in the QMJHL, it was: P.E.I. 5 Acadie-Bathurst 2; Drummondville 6 Chicoutimi 4; Rimouski 4 Lewiston 1; Cape Breton 5 Val-d'Or 2; Victoriaville 4 Baie-Comeau 2; and Montreal 5 Quebec 2.

At Saint John, N.B., Danick Gauthier's two goals led the Sea Dogs.

Jonathan Huberdeau, Nathan Beaulieu and Kevin Gagne also scored for Saint John (19-4-1).

Jeff Desjardins, Gabriel Levesque, and Christophe Losier had singles for the Huskies (11-11-3).

Rocket 5 Titan 2

At Charlottetown, P.E.I., Samson Mahbod scored two goals and an assist as the Rocket downed Acadie-Bathurst.

Joel Champagne had a marker and set up two for P.E.I. (11-8-3), while Adam Polasek and Jordon Southorn also had singles.

Eric Faille and Cameron Critchlow both scored for the Titan (7-13-3).

Voltigeurs 6 Sagueneens 4

At Chicoutimi, Que., Marc-Olivier Vachon scored twice and added an assist to lead Drummondville over the Sagueneens.

Gabriel Dumont had a goal and set up two for the Voltigeurs (17-3-1), while Alexandre Comtois, Mathieu Milse, and Philippe Lefebvre also had singles.

Michael Stinziani, Dominic Jalbert, Jacob Lagace, and Michal Hlinka scored for Chicoutimi (9-8-4).

Oceanic 4 Maineiacs 1

At Lewiston, Maine, Jordan Caron led Rimouski over the Maineiacs with a goal and two assists.

Patrice Cormier scored and added an assist for the Oceanic (11-8-3), while Jakub Culek and Mathieu Loisel also had markers.

Francis Beauvillier was the lone goal scorer for Lewiston (10-10-0).

Screaming Eagles 5 Foreurs 2

At Sydney, N.S., Taylor MacDougall had the game-winner as Cape Breton bested Val-d'Or.

Maximilien Le Sieur, Viktor Hertzberg, Stephen Horyl and Francis Meilleur also scored for the Screaming Eagles (13-6-4).

Steven Verrilli and Shawn Morton-Boutin both found the back of the net for the Foreurs (7-14-2).

Tigres 4 Drakkar 2

At Baie-Comeau, Que., Joel Chouinard scored twice as Victoriaville sank the Drakkar.

Yanni Gourde and Olivier Jannard had the Tigres (15-7-1) other goals.

Gabriel Bourque and Simon Olsson were the goal scorers for Baie-Comeau (5-14-2).

Junior 5 Remparts 2

At Montreal, Louis-Marc Aubry scored twice and added an assist as the Junior topped Quebec.

Trevor Parkes also had two goals for Montreal (11-9-1), while Pier-Antoine Dion added a marker himself.

Marc-Olivier Vallerand and Ryan Bourque both found the back of the net for the Remparts (14-4-5).
