Sabres general manager Darcy Regier gets contract extension @NHLdotcom

BUFFALO, N.Y. - Buffalo Sabres general manager Darcy Regier was given a two-year contract extension Saturday.

Regier, who was entering the final year of his current contract, is now signed to lead the club through the 2010-11 season.

"We had one piece of big unfinished business," Sabres managing partner Larry Quinn said. "It's probably the best contract we've done all year."

During this off-season, Regier achieved each of the team's key goals. He traded for an experienced defenceman in Craig Rivet and signed Patrick Lalime to back up goalie Ryan Miller, who - along with forward Jason Pominville - received a five-year contract extension.

Terms of the deal were not released.
